“The National Education Coalition joined the Ministry of General Education and Instruction and other partners in celebrating International Literacy Day” in Awerial County,Lake State.

On the 8th /August, the National Education Coalition (NEC) joined the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, UNESCO, government officials, Members of the Standing Specialized Parliamentary Committees on General and Higher Education, development partners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders in celebrating International Literacy Day in Awerial County, Lakes State.

The celebration was held under the theme “Literacy for People, Planet and Prosperity” and was graced by H.E. the Governor of Lakes State, alongside other distinguished leaders and stakeholders.

NEC was represented by the National Coordinator, Dr. Ador Riak Nyiel, who joined partners in highlighting the importance of literacy as a foundation for inclusive education, sustainable development, empowerment, and prosperity for all.

The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in advancing literacy in South Sudan while reaffirming the need for stronger collaboration and investment in education to ensure that every person has the opportunity to learn, read, write, and thrive.

Literacy is not just about reading and writing
it is about empowering people, transforming communities, protecting our planet, and building a prosperous future.
