We are an interdenominational Christian organization based in South Sudan working to transform lives and communities through partnership with the global church, other organizations, and the communities we serve. Working with communities in a dialogue of equals, ACROSS seeks biblical transformation in all sectors. Through training programs and local resources, ACROSS works to understand and engage root causes of problems from the perspective of those affected. A holistic approach, one for the whole person and whole community, is necessary for creating meaningful relationships and authentic change.

Jesuit Refugee Service South Sudan

JRS was founded in November 1980 by Fr Pedro Arrupe SJ, the then Superior General of the Society of Jesus, to respond to the plight of Vietnamese refugees fleeing their war-ravaged homeland.

Following the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, hundreds of thousands of South Vietnamese fled their homes, setting out in overcrowded boats across the South China Sea. Many did not survive the journey; they were killed by pirates or drowned because of storms and rough seas. Fr Arrupe felt compelled to act. He called on the Jesuits “to bring at least some relief to such a tragic situation”.

Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate and Collaborators (SDMIC) is popularly known as DMI, an apostolic congregation of the catholic church. Rev. Fr. J.E. Arulraj is the founder of this congregation.

Since its inception, SDMIC works with marginalized communities for their socio-economic empowerment. In South Sudan, SDMIC was registered under the NGO Act (Reg. No: 469) in the name of the “Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate & Collaborators” in 2013.  

The society with its dedicated group of sisters and staff members carries out socio-development activities to address key issues of hunger, unemployment, illiteracy, and gender-based violence. Based on local needs, we also respond to malnutrition, food insecurity, trafficking, and starvation.

All programs promote community structures that support the program team to identify critical needs, participate in the implementation, and assume responsibility for sustainability beyond project term.

WART is fully registered under the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in accordance with the 2016 NGO Act of South Sudan.

Women Agency for Resilience and Transformation (WART), formerly known as Regional Aid, is a women-led national NGO founded in 2017 by South Sudanese professionals dedicated to building women’s resilience to shocks and stressors that impact livelihoods, nutrition, health, and development through empowering and building the capacity of women in South Sudan.

Women Aid Vision

Women Aid Vision (WAV) is non-partisan, non-profit and non-political organization working with women and youth for peace and reconciliation, entrepreneurship, governance ,advocating against gender based violence, child protection, education, safe water, adequate sanitation and improved hygiene. Its key areas of intervention are peace building, governance, protection, Education, Environment, development and Women Empowerment.

Yei Teachers Training College

Yei Teacher Training College was founded in 2001 to improve the quality of primary school teaching in South Sudan by offering comprehensive pre-service and in-service training courses.

The college has students from all ten states in South Sudan as well as the Nuba Mountains. We offer these students a high standard of tuition which is accredited by the University of Kyambogo, Uganda and certified by South Sudan’s Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGE&I).

Young-adult Empowerment Initiative (YEI)

Our Mission is to strengthen the operational capabilities of young South Sudanese men and women in contributing to peaceful, resilient and inclusive communities through peacebuilding, skills development and healthcare services. Currently, YEI works in Uganda’s refugee settlements and in South Sudan with internally displaced communities.
