On 9th December 2025, the National Education Coalition met with Her Excellency Josephine Lagu, Vice President and the Chair of Service Cluster to formally submit the Communiqué of the stakeholders’ dialogue held on the 3rd & 4th of December on Advancing Education in South Sudan. The Coalition, led by Dr. Ador Riak Nyiel, presented the urgent challenges facing the education sector, including the over 2.8 million children out of school and the limited national budgetary allocation to the General Education (Approx. 2.7%) against the national benchmark of at least 10% stipulated in the General Education Act of 2012. Her Excellency commended the Coalition’s efforts, expressed her commitment to present the communiqué to the President, and emphasized the importance of public awareness and collective responsibility in addressing education challenges. The communiqué was subsequently disseminated through SSBC TV to ensure wider public engagement. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment between the Vice President and the Coalition to strengthen collaboration, foster inclusion, and advance sustainable education for all children in South Sudan.
