The National Education Coalition (NEC) was honored to participate in the Regional Gender Transformative Education Workshop held in Nairobi from 26–27 August, organized by the Feminist Network in partnership with the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), Oxfam, Plan International, and Usawa Agenda. Represented by the Gender and Inclusion Officer, NEC joined partners in a valuable space for collaboration, learning, and strengthening commitments to inclusive and transformative education policies.
The workshop highlighted the importance of building a community of practice among CSOs to advocate collectively, mobilize resources, and localize gender transformative education to community needs. Discussions emphasized the use of data in advocacy, the role of boys and men in advancing GTE, the power of context in shaping approaches, and the need for civil society to support government with technical expertise while ensuring accountability on financing and budgets. The inclusion of persons with disabilities in advocacy and decision-making was also recognized as central to advancing truly inclusive education.
