The NEC Secretariat help the organization by performing the following roles:
Dr. Peter Ador Riak Nyiel is a distinguished academic and a strong advocate for the right to education for all children.
Dr. Nyiel holds a Doctorate degree in Education in Emergency, a Master’s degree in Education in Emergency, a Master of Arts in Humanitarian & Conflict Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education, English & Literature. He is an expert in policies on Education in Emergencies, girls’ education, teacher education, education management, Youth engagement, and coalition building expanded over 15 years. He started his teaching career in 2004 but ventured into humanitarian work in 2014 and later became the National Coordinator for Partners on Education Group, a civil society network of education advocating for the right to education. He later went on to help establish (2016) the National Education Coalition (NEC) where he currently serves as the National Coordinator. NEC with full support from Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Oxfam IBIS, Oxfam South Sudan, Africa Network Campaign for Education for All, Global Campaign for Education, Ministry of General Education and Instruction, campaigns for the right to education in South Sudan. It works on influencing national education policies through engagement with the government, donors, CSOs, communities, and the general public to strengthen the education sector’s service delivery through development and during emergencies. Dr. Nyiel has attended and participated in several other short trainings, national and international conferences on right-based approaches, budget analysis and tracking, resources mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, gender sensitive planning and programming, coordination, and education financing. Dr. Nyiel also provides consultancy on education matters in South Sudan for government, national and international organizations, and donors. He has been part of South Sudan Education Sector Plan development since 2016. On his role as the National Coordinator, he sits in established Local Education Group in South Sudan. These include; Education Cannot Wait, GPE, and several Ministry’s technical working groups. As academics, he has taught in several primary, secondary schools and Universities both in South Sudan and Kenya.
Ms. Eunice joined National Education Coalition in 2018 as the Finance & Admin Officer Prior to National Education Coalition, I was the Finance & Admin Officer at Oxfam IBIS During my tenure at Oxfam IBIS I got to know National Education Coalition (NEC) since they where working hand in hand with Oxfam IBIS. I graduated in 2015 holding a Bachelor degree in Business Admin, Where I majored in Accounting and Finance . I currently live in Juba.
Morjakole is an ardent academician and a passionate advocate for accessible quality education for all children through improved teacher quality.
He holds Masters of Arts degree in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA), a Masters of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University, Kampala (Uganda).
He is interested in understanding, through inquiry and participation in policy dialogues and advocacy, the practices and policies that inevitably shape influence access and the quality of teaching and learning. In a country affected and hence recovering from a prolong history of conflict, education is likely to experience a landscape of policy agenda and the inevitable challenges experienced by education sectors of the developing world.
Morjakole has expertise in organizing and delivering training workshops, leading advocacy campaigns and discussions, policy analysis, writing policy briefs on educational issues and education assessment. He is also a good team player and team builder, leading research and assessments.
Mr. Dut Kon Garang is a highly accomplished professional with over nine years of dedicated experience in the development and humanitarian sectors, specializing in Trauma Awareness and Resilience and Psychosocial Support. He is a Certified Master Trainer in the Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (STAR) program from Eastern Mennonite University, USA.
Expertise and Key Experience
Mr. Garang’s career is marked by his ability to lead complex programs, develop essential tools, and deliver impactful training across diverse community levels. His core expertise includes:
Trauma Program Management: Managed and implemented large-scale trauma awareness and healing programs. This includes his role as a Master Trainer with the AECOM/VISTAS program in Jonglei State (2016–2019), where he oversaw daily operations and training for three years.
Curriculum Development: Contributed to the development of specialized trauma awareness tools, including the “Morning Star” programs designed for Peer Support Groups and Community Health Care Service Providers.
Behavior Change and Counseling: Applied expertise as a Behavior Change Officer (International Medical Corps) and provided exceptional psychosocial services, including face-to-face counseling, community participatory approaches, and patient referral for trauma cases.
Capacity Building: Trained a wide range of stakeholders, including peer support groups, women, youth, community leaders, and key community members.

Night Agnes John Wani is a dedicated Gender specialized currently working with National Education Coalition as the Gender and Inclusion Officer, with a strong background in Gender and Development studies and five years of experience working on gender equality, women empowerment, and GBV prevention. Throughout her career, she actively engaged in program implementation, facilitation, advocacy, Peace Building, Conflict Resolution and capacity building initiative aimed at building gender responsive policies and inclusive development.
Dynamic Gender professional, with extensive experience in advocating for women’s Rights, leadership and empowerment in South Sudan. Proven expertise in designing and facilitating training sessions on team building, conflict resolution, and community engagement.
Highly motivated, strategic thinker, detailed oriented with good leadership skills, high professional interpersonal relationship management, a quick decision maker and problem-solving and reliable.
Sunday Suan is a dynamic South Sudanese holding a Diploma in Human Resource Management and degree in Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomatic studies, consistently rewarded for success in planning and operational improvements. Experience in Public Relations, training, policy development and staff management procedures positively impacting overall morale and productivity. Currently she works with National Educational Coalition as a HR assistant and a logistic officer.
Lubajo Martin an Education and development professional, passionate in advocating for equal access to quality, inclusive education, especially for girls and Children with Disabilities (CWDs).
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Development Studies from Star International University (SIU); Diploma in Strengthening the Capacity Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Danida Fellowship Centre, Copenhagen, Denmark; Diploma in Education from Kyambogo University, Uganda; Certificate in Education from Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK), Uganda.
He is currently Pursuing a master’s degree in project planning and management (MPPM), from Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU), (at dissertation level).
He previously worked as a Project manager with Support for peace and Education Development Program (SPEDP), Education Program Manager with Oxfam International, Program Literacy and Numeracy Specialist, Oxfam Denmark, Project manager for EU non-State actors Project with IBIS South Sudan, among other positions, held in the humanitarian sector in South Sudan.
