The NEC is a broad-based membership organization of like minded civil society actors working in education sector or with an interest in education. These include INGOs, NNGOs, Teacher Unions, Parents Associations, the media, academia, institutions of higher learning as well as community groups.

The main focus of NEC is advocacy on matters relating to policy and legal frameworks in education sector. This nature of work requires a massive collection of voices and actors to be able to build a formidable force that can create legitimacy and influence policy and legal dialogues. The NEC;
